The Natural Garden, Inc. has joined Midwest Groundcovers LLC, a local wholesale nursery also headquartered in St. Charles, Illinois.  The primary reason for Midwest’s purchase of The Natural Garden was to expand their native plant offerings through added species and to focus on special Local Ecotype native plants.

Midwest is fully committed to maintaining The Natural Garden tradition of offering a broad selection of Local

Ecotype and specialized native plants.  We want to assure you that the unique plants and local ecotype quality plant material you've come to expect from The Natural Garden will continue to be available through Midwest Groundcovers under the name Natural Garden Natives™.

We have been busy blending our operations so that we will be able to serve you well in the coming months.  We are working together diligently to ensure a seamless transition for all our customers and our experienced Natural Garden production staff is readily preparing for the season.

Midwest will continue native plant nursery production at The Natural Garden nursery site on Route 64 in St. Charles, Illinois.  Natural Garden Natives™ will continue to be the same Local Ecotype native plants originating from seed and stock beds at The Natural Garden site.  We will continue to harvest seed, propagate and grow the Local Ecotype quality native plants customers expect from The Natural Garden.  These plants were originally collected in the 1970s and 1980s primarily in Kane County, but no further than 90 miles from the St. Charles nursery site.   In addition, we will maintain separate inventories of Natural Garden Natives™ and the native plants that already were part of the Midwest product line.

When you see the name Natural Garden Natives™ you can be assured of Local Ecotype authenticity and quality.  Look for the distinctive name Natural Garden Natives™ on the plant label.

Natural Garden Natives™ will come in the same 2.5” individual pots which are in a 32 count tray.  Any non local ecotype native plants grown by Midwest Groundcovers will come in a different size – a 38 cell plug tray and is grown at a separate facility.

For customers that also purchased The Natural Garden ornamental perennials and grasses, we invite you to visit the Midwest Groundcovers website for our broad selection.  Ornamental perennials and grasses from The Natural Garden collection have been added in the Midwest mix.  In addition, we have an excellent broad offering of groundcovers, shrubs, trees and roses.

The Natural Garden property will be considered a Production Farm with the new name Midwest Natural Garden.  Finished plants will be shipped from the facility but plants will not be sold directly from the site and it will not be open to the public for tours or for retail shopping.  Please visit our Home Gardener section for more details. As with all Midwest production facilities, guided tours can be arranged for our wholesale customers on an appointment basis. We are also working on a new garden-themed slot machine, visit OnlineHraciAutomaty to learn more.
